Thinking about buying a minty used one, just starting to scout around. I have typical smaller wrist a little under 7". From those of you who have them, will the 38 or 42 work better for me? Also, would like to know what you more experienced guys think of the new "classic cars" introduced at Basel2016 at 42mm. Flashy blah like the open hearts or future collector? Thank you.

Your going to need to try it on. My gut says the 38 but wrist size and watch size are not the whole story. I've got 7 3/4 and some of my 42's wear big and I've got a 45.5 that is not oversized. It's proportions of the watch and how it looks on you.

Not a single Monaco looks good on me even the smallest seems oversized but again a 3313 PO works, while the slightly thicker newer ones are big.

I have a 6.3" wrist and I found the 38mm wore big, more like a 39-40 mm. Fairly thick too, and a bit flashier than I expected.

I just got a 38mm a week ago, and I agree with everything @NT931 said. It does wear big. The biggest thing, though, is that the 38mm looks much closer to the original A386.

It has straight lugs, I would definitely go for 38mm. Closer to the "original", too. Also the movement size fits better relative to the case.

AND the subdials. Can't believe that noone has mentioned how much more balanced the 38mm dial looks in comparison to the 42.

...But don't get me started on the overlapping subdials. IMO, ruins an otherwise perfect watch :(

I have a 7-5 inch wrist and I think the 38mm looks better on me.

Ok, so it seems like most of you are for the 38. Funny thing, on Monday a friend hits me up and offers me his 42, box, papers, near mint, for a great deal, so I couldn't pass on it. It is a tad big, but I still think it works and looks amazing. I'm happy and in the end, that's it. Thanks for all the input. I love these EP, this is my second one! Here's a image.jpeg image.jpeg pic of my first EP, and now my tri.
