Zenith Port Royal Titanium Moonphase - Comments Please

Hi, I've been lurking the forum for a year and using it as a great resource, so firstly I'd like to say thanks to all you guys who post on here as it's been very helpful for a Zenith newbie like me.

I've recently acquired a Zenith 95.0102.418 (Page 255 in Rossler). Does anyone know whether this model has a more tongue friendly name? I've just been calling it Zenith Titanium Moonphase, but that doesn't sound specific enough to me as I know the Defy range also had Titanium Moonphases.

I've attached some photos below from all angles and would appreciate any comments. To me it all seems authentic and original apart from the strap buckle which I believe to be a replacement from another model. There is a scratch on the crystal around the 1'o'clock area and the strap suffers from slight wear. As far as I can tell it hasn't been polished in any way.

Hi Sailor

It's a "Port Royal" of 1984-1986

This is one of 200 produced Port Royal Moonphase with 3019PHF and black dial.

It's a nice piece take care of it :thumbsup:

Congrats on the watch. It shows up in the 1987 catalog, and would have set you back 3,800 DM at that time. The model changed to one with Roman numerals instead of red markers by 1990 (I prefer your version).

Thanks for your replies guys. I have edited the title and added "Port Royal".

Does anybody know what the correct way is to set the time? This is my first moonphase watch and I've read ages ago on another thread that there is a correct way to set them to avoid damaging the movement.

What do you think of the condition of the watch? And whether it is all original??

The technical manual for this movement says:

Correction of the day cannot take place between 9 and 12 am and between 12 pm and 2 am.
Correction of the moon phases cannot be operated between midnight and 2 am.

There is a nice app from JLC (IPhone) to set the moonphase correctly maybe it's something for you

The buckle is exactly correct and the entire watch looks correct. There are about 5 different dials for the titanium series. Only several hundred of each where made. In my humble opinion one of the most underrated Zeniths. It has everything going for it- moon titanium chrono. Tho

roughly one of the most comfortable to wear Zeniths. It is not a port royal.

I agree Sailor's model was never called a Port Royal, but that's how subsequent versions are labeled in my January 1990 catalog.

I wonder what prompted the change.

I agree with both of you.

This model was never advertised as an Port Royal.

I think it's really near of a port royal as to some other design lines of Zenith.

And its really boring to say owww watch out that's a ref. 95 0102 418

Thanks for all the close up photos. I do agree it's probably one of the most comfortable watches I have. It looks like it would be uncomfortable but the bracelet is very smooth.

I assumed the buckle to be incorrect as its a different material from the rest of the watch which is titanium. Do all of your watches have the same buckle as mine?

That is a really cool looking piece especially in titanium, somehow managed to stay looking sporty and cool while having more dress typical complications, love the style even the bracelet. Has a kind of futuristic terminatoresque look about it.

I thought this model was only produced in 1984-1986, so it's interesting that it's in your 1990 catalogue. Do you think Zenith manufactured them in 1984-6 and then only sold them a few years later??
