Hi

I thought I would share this with the OF members looking for the elusive Zenith A386

A good friend of mine is a well known dealer by the name of Derek Dier of WatchesToBuy. He just listed a Zenith A386 FS on his website http://watchestobuy.com/zenith-a386-el-primero-1969/ I just dropped in to see him about an hour ago to check this watch out. All I can say is that the watch looks amazing in person.

Had I not just bought a A3818 two weeks ago this would have probably come home with me today.

There is nothing in this for me, just trying to help out my fellow forum members. I've had many dealings with Derek over the years he is truly top notch, you can deal with complete confidence.

GL - I don't think this one will last very long. Let him know I sent you
Jay

Case looks a bit polished and hands look relumed.

A few things I noticed while viewing in person (although Derek lists most of this in his ad).

Dial appears to be original and is in great shape.
Case is definitely polished, but it still looks great.
The hand lume does not match dial lume so I'm assuming it's replacement or relume at some point.
Hour and minute hand have some minor wear close to the post
Case back is original and the number matches this reference as a second series.

Hope someone here pics this up.

I spotted it online, but I´ll be heading that way quite soonish so a guess a little close recce wouldn´t go amiss....so long as you haven´t scooped everything up in the meantime :D

What is the current value range of the A386 these days? Given very good-to-excellent condition.

I would say 8-10kUSD/€... depending on mark I, II or III.
Maybe a little bit higher for a NOS one with GF ladder bracelet

IMO a lot higher for one NOS, and good luck finding a very good one for 8k. Not today.

More keen on the revelation that you bought an A3818, actually. Looking forward to pics if they haven't already been posted!

Very good catch @lwong !!!

Yes a new A3818, which is truly exciting. I was waiting to get it serviced at Zenith in Switzerland before taking a few pics. It's in desperate need of a new plexi. Although I will say she's still a beauty even with her flaws.
