Interesting to see this nice snail dial just sold for USD 78.125 incl. fee. Link: click. I know specifics of 51 examples but have only 1 other snail dial on record, which sold for EUR 156k in 2019 (see: click). Cleaner dial but replaced minute hand and not matching (also perhaps relumed as well and what about the right index print...)! Of the 51 I know at least 6 are not matching (but 1 could potentially be rematched) and even the one in the Longines museum is not(!) so this is a bit of a known issue with 5699's ;)

Anyway: (very) well bought I think.

Pics of both:

I agree, $78K USD seems a bit low when compared with the $62K USD that the example below sold for just 2 days earlier, on June 1. Maybe better photos would have helped the No. 266 (snail tachy). Or maybe the light patina put people off.

I won’t be surprised if it will show up - after a service and with new plexi - at Menta or so for 100k

I keep forgetting on occasion that EU uses decimals for commas. Did a double take. $78 bucks?????? Just lovely.

The Monaco one was published in Goldberger (2nd print I assume which I don’t have) so that may explain part of the premium paid
