There's a certain irony, given the name of the watch, that it took nearly two months to arrive from Germany. Ultimately, it was worth the wait. It needs a resurfacing on the lugs and the engraving on the back removed but, for the price, it's worth the extra expense. Thanks to @dougiedude and ulackfocus for the guidance.

Congratulations. One of IWC's best vintage models, and their blue soleil dials were second to none in the industry.

This was before I got it serviced (plus clean up on the crystal). These watches are tremendous bang-for-the-buck, especially compared to say an Ingenieur

For me, silver dial on black strap is the quintessential no-nonsense look.

Took this pic today, in honor of the thread!

Yach club, wrist.jpg

Very fond of the model, and on s/s bracelet even more
That's exactly what I need. Is there a bracelet number that fits?

I'll try to do a proper picture of this one later. This is the blue dial with a Gay Freres vintage bracelet.

The bracelet is referred to as a "Ref. 11" by IWC:

Hope this helps,

Yes, looking for a Cal 89 version!
According to sources only very few were made. I have heard a total of 720 pieces in the stainless steel case.

Well it means I better snap one up when I see one!

I'm curious to know how others would rank this Yacht Club compared to other vintage watches from the same era, such as an Omega Constellation or Rolex for example? I read an article a while back that may be of interest http://mansfinelife.com/2015/03/09/...t-club-an-avant-garde-answer-to-the-datejust/

A few months ago I showed a picture of my vintage collection to a watchmaker including a couple Rolex, several Omegas, a Heur and others. The one he immediately picked out and raved about was this IWC, saying it was a very underrated watch.

That article is what got me interested in the Yacht Club.
