Is this 3019PHC legit?

Hi guys, I couldn't believe I have gone from a zenith Noob in jan this year to asking this question today (again to the detriment of my wallet thickness). Anyhow this movement has a "3019 PHC" on the bridge and on the rotor reads "zenith 17 jewels unadjusted" and below the balance wheel "C Swiss Made"

What I am concerned about is "zenith 17 jewels unadjusted" on the rotor as I was doing research on it and it seems this marking only popped up on a few a788.

Hi ELV

I think this movement is legit.

Most of these 17 jewels movements are Movado movements. A small number is from Zenith.

The 17 jewels was built for US market because it was easier to import (US custom regulations and duties).

Thanks Adri. This one is from Italy but I guess it is not entirely impossible.

This is what I am looking at, about to pull a trigger on it but something bugs me (the case shape looks odd somehow). Am I wrong to doubt the case shape image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg ?

I have this same reference 01.0210.415...
Wrist Shot, 7.JPG

Mine has a 31 jewel 3019PHC

10. Zenith El Primero Ref. 01.0210.415 Cal. 3019 PHC, 1973.jpg
Your movement seems to be missing a couple of screws, two in the middle at center of rotor. Also some major wear on the rotor from case back rub. I'd be a little cautious on this one, I think we need the Zenith experts,,, @Stewart H , @MMMD

You're right... this one is too easy for @LouS. ;)
Agree with Hijak... condition is a little rough, and the less than perfect 17-jewel movement is a detractor. Since you're interested in a C-case EP, I would consider taking the same money (or less) and plunking it down on a Movado Datron in very good condition. You might even find one of those with a 31J movement, if you're lucky (though 17J is the norm). I like this reference, but Datrons are the coolest C-cased EP's. If your heart is set on this model, hold out for one in very good shape. I am essentially arguing along the "condition, condition, condition" line... but it's a good argument.

Good suggestion. Buncha attractive gold plated "Ted Chaoughs" on Ebay now. The prices speak for themselves

Thanks all, very helpful as usual. The Movados look great, do they have either gold or steel version that are not plated? Also I can't hel but notice that the movados even in gold plated are quite pricey (very similar price to this particular zenith posted above), if the above zenith is around 1800-1900usd, is that a decent price? Thanks once again.

Solid gold Datrons are rare. There are lots of steel ones out there. You should be able to score a very nice steel one, maybe even with original bracelet, for less than $1800. I think that price is a bit high for the watch you posted, based on condition and 17J movement.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. Just disregard the Chrono24 price, which is a bit high even for a dealer. This is where I would put my $1800.

Very clear, thanks MMMD. The hunt shall begin. I will try to find the gold version :)
