Is this 146 AOK/authentic?

this one looks good though - later replacement crown.

I don't see a movement number, or a case number for that matter, though the case-back has '382o' or '382D' with the last three blanked out.

Any thoughts, LouS?

There is no movement number, and 382Dxxx is the case number.

So, is it normal the movement has no number inscribed?

I understand the 'D' cases were used on Zenith's from 1968-70...

Yes, and probably a little later than 1970 for the D-series.

He doesn't show a decent, in-focus pic of the gashes on the pushers, but those might be bad enough I may have to pass. I'll ask him for a better pic of those first, however...

The crown looks pinker than the case; perhaps not original? 5-point star on crown would be correct?

The crown is correct for this model. Certain post-1965 models got Z-in-star crowns. The Turtle Captains, for example. Not sure about the color... exact color-matching of crown and case in those days seems improbable to me, and the plated crown and solid case will age differently... but I like the way you quibble.

I guess that's pretty routine for most gold watches, as the stem has to be hard and stiff, thus made all as one piece?

Doug. The crown can't be solid gold. As you rightly observe, the steel stem has to screw into something of a similar hardness so the crowns are plated, or capped, at the best. Pushers could be solid if they are the one-piece type, but mostly they will be brass (or some other base metal), plated with gold.
