Anyone recognize the movement in this J. Bishop watch?

Hi all, I went out to look at a watch and came home with 3 :whistling:

One of them is this very nice steel J. Bishop. Lug width is 16mm, and the case is 32mm, excluding the crown. Inside the caseback is blank. From what I can tell, J Bishop may be a jeweller in Delaware, though I have also seen some J Bishop labeled pocket watches online, but who knows how long they’ve been in business. I’m assuming this is a private-labeled watch.

The dial is stunning. Very cool numerals and the black has turned chocolate. The lume looks perfect and it is running nicely.

Does anyone recognize the movement? There is an MB stamped under the balance wheel, not much else for me to go on.

Thanks in advance for your help

Looks like Standard (ST) 96. Why? Do you need parts? I’m 90% certain that movement will be marked ST96 somewhere near the rim of the balance wheel. Near the tip of the arrow.

Thanks @Canuck

Okay, I found that. I definitely see ST, and above it is really hard to make out, it looks like a # or a logo, but probably says FHF-ST.

Thanks, I don’t need parts, it’s running like a champ. I thought my better half might like it, but…not so much. I think it will end up in the FS section here. Do you know what lift angle I should set in on on my timegrapher?

The ST (Standard) movements were a line made by FHF (Fabrique d'Horlogerie Fontainemelon), thus the two markings.

You shouldn't have to change the lift angle on your TG if the default is 52º as that's the LA for the cal 96 and 97. The only difference between the two calibers is the rate (21600 kph for a cal 97).

I don’t have any info on the watch besides what was provided in this thread regarding it possibly being from a Delaware jewelers.

Oh, I can also add that my dibs was successful. Thanks again @DaveK !

Ok thankyou for reply. From what I've been told it's from a jewelers here in north Vancouver BC 🇨🇦 glad you got the watch because I don't plan on selling. It's a sharp watch and very clean condition.
