Advice on a Speedmaster pre-moon: 105.012 - 64 ? or not ?

Hello,

I have an option on a speedmaster 105.012 - 64, that look fine to my non-expert eyes (with the plexi to celan/change!).

One point : the dial does not have professional on it, I know and have read some thread about it (and the view mainly shared that it is not the originial dial. Probably of a 003?)

Would you expert eye could provide interesting feature/advice ? Does the case seem correct for a 105.012 ?

Calibre : 321
Serial 22 8xx xxx
Bezel : dot over the 90 - accent on the E of tachymètre -
dial : T swiss made T - seems a B2.mk1 without Professional - from a 003 of the same area ?
Case back : HF -
Pusher : large ?

How can it be "fine to your eyes" if it's obviously not correct. If Omega starts providing extracts again, what are your expectations for the movement serial?

Personally, the only way I would even consider this for an instant would be if it were dirt-cheap and I needed some of the parts.

Because I like the dial without the "professional":)... but still would like to have an idea of the other parts !

Sorry, I don't understand what you are asking. You already know the watch isn't right.

I know the dial is not right- but have he right to like it ( if everything else - the case for instance - is right,and that I do not know... )

The dial isn’t correct. It’s a valuable part in itself but it still means the value is reduced by the amount a correct dial will cost (yes in cash, but also in time and effort), slightly offset by the value of the dial you have.

As for the rest of it, the case, bezel and pushers look correct but the crown is a service item. Not uncommon.

You should understand the dial is a huge part of the attraction, value and desirability of a vintage watch and if you buy this it should be at a significant discount. It will be a hard sell if you ever want to part with it and unless they have the correct dial in their magic box, most collectors won’t be interested in it and very few people will validate your choice to buy it if that’s where you’re heading (unless it’s price is the value of its parts)

If the case is right for what? You don't know what reference the movement is for and we can only guess about what is plausible. I don't think you really grasp the nature of a put-together watch, it's just parts. But if you like it, buy it. You don't need our permission.

You know the issue. It's still a good looking and a rare watch which doesn't become available often. If it were me and if the price were right I would buy and sort out in time.

I find that the bezel is usually poor on what's available....... the bezel on this watch is good. If you allow Eur 2500 for bringing up to correct and servicing, the watch is not cheap .................. From this you can sell on the dial you are replacing. They don't come up for sale too often though. Personally, I would make a reduced price citing wrong dial........ and not pay this price. BUT.... It all boils down to how much you want a 105.012-64.
