I think there's a large appetite for these classic tri-compax layout chronographs, even the ones without external bezels. This one is strikingly attractive, too

Good God, Man! That UG is outstanding. No other company, imho, did it as well. For as much as is going on on that dial and considering it's size, the layout and legibility is still intuitive and clear.

FT: Excellent to near mint 4 yr old male child for UG TriCompax. Will top up with cash or other children as necessary;).

couldn't resist!

Whoa - I didn't kill your father!

A little Google searching reveals that 1) most people use it the way I did, and 2) you've created whole threads here about how you dislike that fact - so I won't argue :p

Although same Google search found that some people apparently use "Valjoux layout" as well, which I think would bother me similarly!

Its a striking dial, and was watching this one myself, but I'm shocked at the sale price!

Ive never heard anyone use "tri-compax" to describe a chronograph. "tri"= 3 "compax"= complications.
3 complications, not 3 dials.

Hodinkee is the main perpetrator, but other watchblogs don't hold back either...

LOL...I guess I never noticed...you would think a watch blog, especially Hodinkee would know better.

As mentioned above it was probably Hodinkee's fault - I've just seen it used to refer to a classic, 3-6-9 chrono layout. I'll quit using it though

No, don't give up so easily. The tyranny of usage can emerge victorious over @LouS 's elitist pedantry here. Let me offer a handy reference...

People really like vintage pandas, I think the Daytonas are partly to blame for that, and to a lesser extent the Nina Rindts and the like.

I don't blame them mind you, I absolutely love panda dials.

As much it is liked on this forum, people should be aware that these usually sell for $2000-2500.

I love pandas too, but I love the inverse pandas better.
