36'000 VpH vs. all the other high-beat movements with 36.600 A/h

Dear all,

how is it that Zenith inscribes their El Primero dials with 36'000 VpH, but all other high-beat movements are specified with 36.600 A/h?

5Hz = 10 amplitudes per second = 600 amplitudes per minute = 36.000 amplitudes per hour. And not 36.600 A/h. Where's the catch?

Thank you and kind regards,
Stefan

not "amplitudes" - which is not a rate measure - but "alternances." It's french, like most watchmaking terms. The Zenith is in English, the others in French.

Hi Lou,

thank you, but sorry for not being more specific. I get the different units ( in Germany we say Amplituden ).

I'm confused about the difference of 600.

Its 36,000, I think its because of 28,800 people get confused and write it as 36,600. If it were 10hz and 36,600 per hour it'd be running 24 minutes a day fast.

Read: All the manufacturers' press & IT departments get it wrong in their catalogues and homepages. But what a bummer, look at Breguet, TAG Heuer, Blancpain, Grand Seiko, ...
